This project team consists of individuals and organizations that have demonstrated success in past projects of similar type and magnitude. These team characteristics significantly reduces project risk. The project team includes the Red Cross of An Giang Province, AIAA (licensed American NGO) in Vietnam, Rotary, and Assist International.
In May 2007 a very similar project was successfully completed at the Ho Chi Minh City Cancer Hospital. For details visit the first project located at this web site. In this project, The Red Cross of An Giang Province will be the Consignee of the equipment and will be able to bring the equipment in Duty Free. Rotary clubs in Thailand will perform a pivotal role in coordinating with the Red Cross of An Giang Province and other Vietnamese officials. Project funding will be primarily provided by Rotary. For details visit the "support" page of this web site. Rotary support will include Rotary International, five Rotary districts located in Thailand, California, and Oregon, and many Rotary clubs. If the project can raise the needed cash, medical equipment manufactures will donate about .5 million dollars of hospital equipment.
The current plan is to divide the project into two parts and fund the project with two Rotary matching grants. District 5240 in California and District District 3350 in Thailand will produce one matching grant. District 5110 in Oregon and District 3350 in Thailand will produce the second matching grant. The Rotary Club of Larkspur (1) will provide the club matching dollars to both Rotary districts 5240 and 5110. The Rotary districts will use club approved DDF funds. The Rotary Club of China Lake, California will submit one matching grant to RI for approval. The Rotary Club of Eugene, Oregon will submit the second matching grant to RI for approval.
